Should the creation of botnets to perform these attacks
also count as a legal activity and a protected right?
Perhaps we should make laws to make sure that a certain
amount of computers runs a certain insecure operating
system so that they can be used for this purpose, in
the name of free speech?
Sheesh. Protesting is not about shutting someone up.
It's about making yourself heard. Not the same thing.
While I can support some of their causes, there's
definitely something seriously wrong with Anonymous.

Wouldn't a DDNS attack be closer to blocking a highway, than occupying some
space?

It's free speech...
Like burning churches or homes, killing those who disagree with you, or
imprisoning anyone who questions your agenda...
Rasputin would have made a good free speech advocate under that definition.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Are protests of a business - say restaurant - legally allowed to physicall
bar customers who still want to visit the business from
entering?
Wouldn't that be the same as a DDOS on a website? It would
prevent people from being able to access the site?
As I understand a
legal protest - it's speech that does not bar people from choices. A DDOS would
certainly bar choice.

I think this petition was filed for the traditional reason behind Anonymous
doing anything: Trolling to get entertainment out of the people who believe it,
along with a bit thinking themselves better than the people who 'fell for it'.
Especially the easy targets, who are 'members' of anonymous who believed that
this petition would make DDOS attacks legal.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
