Montana is my favorite because you can access any stream
from any public
place. The fishing for trout is amazing.
If you want to fish just be polite
and you are in for a
amazing time.
Oregon is my next favorite because
if you can float any
boat you can cross any private land. My kayak has a draft
of about 10cm. Use your boat or float of choice to access
your salmon spot
and you are also in heaven.
Utah used to have the best law it even
allowed walking
on private land to avoid man made barriers in the stream.
(Think barbed wire put in by farmers crossing the stream
here.) However the
Governor has signed a new law that makes
waters much harder to access. However
because over 80
percent of Utah is public land there is plenty of
access.
In the Western US many states are waking up to the fact
that
the rain and snow that caused the river in the first
place are public assets.
That is the way it should be. If
it is not this way rain and snow become my
personal property
as long as I own the land bordering the river.
Sorry for the
grammar. Dyslexia is a factor.
Private Property should not trump all
access.
Public access to private land for water access
Access western
waterways
I am interested in how Europe handles these issues?--- cxd [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
