AT&T bought out Cingular Wireless at some point, but decided to switch all
of their cellular phone business to use the Cingular name and branding. So
across the nation, they rolled out new signs and logos to all the stores to make
them Cingular. A year or two later, they decided they didn't like that, so they
switched the naming and branding over to AT&T Wireless again. So depending
on where people lived, they might have been using either name to refer to the
same network.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

It's entirely possible the auction posters were not being honest. Scam artists
have used Ebay before. Plus, someone could be collecting hundreds more than the
iPhone is worth and then buying & shipping one out after they actually get
released.
It would certainly be nice for Samsung if they could find a real pre-sale
auction.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
