Actually
Authored by: joef on Friday, March 29 2013 @ 01:06 PM EDT
Actually, I've run Turbotax in the wife's MAC Mini for the fourth year now. I
agree we need to pressure Intuit into having a Linux version (the MAC is getting
long in the tooth, now.) If, indeed, MS abandons the desktop, lots of SW
vendors will have to scramble to find another platform for their products. Most
of the applications I've seen used in businesses would require total rewrites to
work in phones or tablets. As a retired engineer, I find it hard to envision a
CAD project that had to work in an iPad.

And I moved to NC from OH years ago. Still have my snow shevels, but left the
snow blower with my daughter who stayed up north.

Microsoft at 24% OS Market Share
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, March 29 2013 @ 02:01 PM EDT

In 2012 Microsoft Operating systems were only on 24% of machines sold when you include tablets and smartphones as computers. I know people who've abandoned the 'desktop' for mobile totally.

So this will force ISVs to look beyond Windows. A lot are looking at IOS and Android already.
