Microsoft trademarks its stores. So there.

I'm surprised they didn't copyright stuff like doors at the front of the store,
or would that be a patent? ;-)

Who stole from whom?
I don't know exactly when Apple filed for this thing, so my employer may very
well have gotten wind of the innovative and very special store layout and stolen
Apple's most holy EyePee. There is a real threat that our employees might
thereby be seduced into taking out loans for cars, or (shudder) taking their
money in for deposit in savings instead of being attracted to spend on new Apple
stuff.
Should I be a good citizen and let Apple know about this? Maybe they would sue
us.
Quite seriously, it is obvious that what Apple has done is precisely to get a
"design patent" on something which is a current hot fad in commercial
architecture and is therefore done in lots of other places. Me, I think it is
rather strange to have a bunch of little individual kiosks with stools around
them in a credit union, and the employees take the customers to one of those
places to sit down and do whatever business they came in for, and the employee
can play with the computer on the table right in front of the customer. I saw
nothing wrong with having tellers at windows. But this is the way that seems
cool these days. More personal interaction with the customer, and all that. And
Apple gets a "design patent" on this? Good grief.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
