OK, sorry, parent was me - I would have modified it, but being unintentionally
anonymous, I can't.
It occurred to me after writing the above that, indeed, the idea of
"opening" something by sliding something else in a line is basically
the function of a bolt closure - and those have been around pretty much since
the invention of the door. In fact, even the remains of neolithic dwellings
often show holes in the door posts clearly intended to take a sliding wooden bar
- one of the earliest inventions around. In my book you can go into a hardware
store anywhere in the world - or indeed an archaeological museum - and find any
number of examples of prior art. And I'd simply LOVE to see someone drag an
expert in the neolithic into court to testify against an Apple patent claim.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
