Life uses the Gibbs free energy or enthalpy to grow and reproduce its
information.
The purpose of life, if there is one, is to grow its information at the cost of
converting the free energy into high entropy waste. We have all these highly
ordered structures walking around paid for by sending entropy out into the
surrounding environment.
Even civilization with its newly passed memes is a form of life where the
information is reproduced and grown.
Thus, Groklaw itself is the product of life. It is the natural order of things
and it is our purpose, to grow and share our knowledge with the other life on
our planet and maybe in the universe.
Things that fight the discovery and reproduction of information are truly
anti-life. Sounds like U.S. Intellectual Property Law, doesn't it. None of
this has anything to do with the sanctity of life, whatever that it. It has
everything to do with the spread of knowledge an education, i.e. Age of
Enlightenment values over the prior or maybe coming dark ages. The destruction
of a library in Timbuktu is anti-life, as is the burning of the books.
I have digressed...
Live long and prosper (our) information.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
