IANAL so please ignore:
There is another wisdom from your post. And it is that java (as a language) is
not used because it's unique. It's based on a lot of prior art (arguably prior
art being better). The only reason for its choice is interoperability rather
than anything else. And that's fair use AFAIU. Moreover it's a function (to
understand that particular language), not implementation.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

I would agree that it "should" be an win for Google but as PJ
wrote:
I seem to be doomed to spend my life arguing with David
Boies, one of the lawyers whose name appears on this piece of work.
Here in lies the problem. David Boies is like a guy on the
internet just bound and determined to troll a thread to death. Most of the stuff
he sputters is absolute non-sense but occasionally he stumbles upon just enough
facts that you don't just give up and go read some thing else. Think of that
Thoriem Muller guy or what ever his name is.
The US should have a
constitutional amendment that any case David Boies loses should have 100X court
costs as the minimum. There should also be a pay bonus for the judge no matter
what the out come.
You certainly have my condolences PJ.

Stripped of time & space, Luke Walker and Harry Potter are twins.
Both lost their endowed parents, both found their magic powers in adolescence,
both were trained by masters who know their origins, both must battle the mortal
enemy of mankind motivated by personal revenge, etc. etc.
Yet, I have never heard Lucas accuse Rowling of infringement. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
