Being a Brit myself I think this is just wry British humour!
The comment was not meant to be taken seriously except in
the spirit of 'they're all at it out there' - wherever
'there' is!
Most Brits don't feel that the UK is any better than
anywhere else - indeed we tend to pay more for exactly the
same products.
As an example, I bought this Acer C7 Chromebook (now running
Ubuntu) on which I am typing this comment from Amazon.co.uk
for £199.99 (current £ to $ exchange rate is about 1.55 so
about $310) but the exact same model is available from
Amazon.com (but I can't BUY from Amazon.com in the UK) for
$199.99.
How fair is that!
