If you read the Wayland guys, they'll tell you Canonical are not right. Heck,
they're so off base it's not even wrong!
Read the Wayland/X stuff on lwn, it's interesting. And remember, some of the
keenest hardworking Wayland supporters are the core X maintainers ... that
should tell you something.
As someone who uses X every day - INCLUDING the network transparency bit !!! -
it sounds like Wayland will be a dream come true when it comes to fruition. One
of the key benefits of Wayland is it will eliminate a lot of copying when it
comes to remote displays. Apparently, each window goes back and forth about 3
times before it gets drawn. If it's on the same computer, that's easy to
eliminate - pass a handle. But on a network?
