I've always suspected that Google was the immediate reason why the Mozilla devs
removed the ability to do this in the Firefox settings dialog when FF3 came out.
(It's currently necessary to use about:config to block third-party cookies, by
setting the value network.cookie.cookieBehavior to "2". User-friendly
it ain't!) After all, Firefox not only prefers Google as its search service, but
comes with Google cookies pre-loaded, out of the box; Google is clearly heavily
integrated into Mozilla's development and distribution processes.
I've follow Lauren Weinstein for many years and tend to agree with his opinions
most of the time, so I'm a bit disappointed that he's spouting this
semi-nonsense about how this move will "break" the web. But he's
admittedly a dyed in the wool GoogleDuder, so I'm not particularly surprised.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
