Nokia is a Microsoft puppet (look at who has been in and out at board level).
What they want is to avoid FOSS having a workable alternative to the MPEG-LA
licensing monopoly and hence being able to offer better multimedia systems for
MUCH less than they can. This is about the existing big players holding onto
their market shares, not by having better products but by abusing patents and
copyrights to prevent competition.
Motorola Mobile (which is now owned by Google) trying to defend against patent
trolls like Microsoft (and their proxy Nokia), Apple and MPEG-LA by attacking
first, not abusing their position with FRAND. The proprietary software cartel
want their market share protected by (US) law, not having to compete fairly and
to 'export' US law across the work by trade agreements.
