This is a bit like saying you need to click "No" and if you don't you
will be raped.
I'm just learning Spanish (Pimsleur, don't let the stupid infomercial marketing
deter you, it works, but you will have to pay for the full course), but PJ's
translation is reasonable.
The core evil is that Ubuntu doesn't say "we're worse than everyone else
with spyware", and no "click here to not get raped". You can
avoid being raped if you manage to jump through the right hoops in the right
way.
"Consent" ought to be opt-in in every case. Not Opt-out, and
especially not some complex, juggle while hopping on one foot to opt out of
these kinds of things.
Even more, if there are 55 pages for the iTunes whatever, you should have to
click 55 times to opt in.
Otherwise it is "You agree to be violently raped and bear any costs of the
rape" unless you manage to navigate through the opt-out.
See David Cay Johnston's "The Fine Print".
Worse, in the case of Apple and Microsoft, if you don't agree to be sodomized,
raped, dismembered, decapitated, and otherwise abused, you still owe $600 or
more for what amounts to a "brick".
