Facebook in ubiquitous and wilfully careless of peoples' privacy. It provides a
massive database of people's interests, contacts and communications.
Popular facebook apps have easy access to much of that data (sometimes, it
seems, more access than the users themselves have).
If the CIA/NSA/FBI are
given access to this informations (and there seems to be signs that this is the
case), then facebook is an incredible one-stop-shopping site for surveillance
about much of the world.
If Facebook were protective of users' privacy, I'd
probably be a good bit less negative about them -- but right now, what I see is
a company that is all-but-hostile towards user privacy -- especially when it
gets in the way of potential profit. --- Powerful, committed communication.
