It seems to me that there is something "profoundly communistic" in the
agenda of this kind of statement, but I'm curious what you mean by "barn
raisings."
If you're talking about the stereo-typed groups of Christians (in their various
sects) that live together in communities, I know that they would strongly
disagree with the assertion that they are communists (not to mention feel deeply
insulted by such a notion).
The way they see it, they follow God, and therefore God's laws. As such, they
would view it as a Theocracy. I personally know quite a few people who live in
such communities, and that is why I am asking.
If I'm wrong because your using the expression "barn raising" to
represent groups of people that I've never heard of before, then please
enlighten. I would find that interesting.
