In defense of Windows 8 (never thought I'd usher that
phrase), it does not require a Live/Hotmail/etc. account. I
have installed Win 8 a few times and I assure you it can be
done but the setup does not make it easy or clear. In fact,
it seemed almost hidden to me.
Also, I should say I'm talking Windows 8 Pro & Enterprise.
The standard & RT versions may be different.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Install the shell that allows it to run looking much the same as 'classic'
windows it seems much more usable then.
It was still a nightmare installing Mediaportal though compared to on Windows
7.
The classic shell is a free download and installed in seconds. The best 1
minute of time spent in Windows 8 yet, possibly with the exception of watching
Streamed Tom and Jerry episodes through an app installed[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
