A Virtual Machine is not a Machine
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, April 10 2013 @ 07:53 PM EDT
A Virtual Machine is not a machine! It is just some software that when run acts
like a computer. Or really a computer inside another computer. It is really
just a software trick (that uses extra hardware instructions for
security/performance reasons) that encapsulates other software for us to allow
us to separate and run more software on the same computer. The VM is not a new
machine it is just some more software that runs on a real computer (Machine).
We sometimes think of it like a real computer in our heads because it makes it
easier for us to understand how to use it. Not everything in our heads is real
though. Is anything in our heads real? Am I really here? Am I really typing
this? If you find out please let me know

Michael

A VM is a peice of software that runs on top of a computer.
Without said bare metal machine the VM could not exist.
