People filing computer related patents should be required to watch Computer
Chronicles and also read old trade magazines. They'd likely find out their
"invention" isn't.
As that show said, Gary Kildall set the course for personal computers. In so
many ways, MS-DOS was a pale imitation of CP/M. In addition to that Concurrent
DOS, mentioned in the show, DRI also created MP/M, a multiuser version of CP/M
that even supported banked memory.

Archie comics had a good skit on this. I loved the
solution.
Principal Wetherbee had the cameras installed and then
proceeded to correct teachers and students alike.
In return, a camera was
installed to monitor the Principal and tv's placed in the classrooms so the
teachers and students could watch Mr. Wetherbee.
So, here's my
solution:
Anyone monitoring the cameras that are monitoring the classrooms
require to have a camera monitoring them.
Mr. Gates, as the individual
recommending the "cameras in the classrom" also requires monitors on his
activities.
The monitors on Mr. Gates activities must apply to all
activities which will affect the public. No more behind-closed-doors meetings
with politicians and such. Additionally, because the activities do affect the
public, said recordings must be live posted to the internet so the public can
monitor Mr. Gates performance.

Hey PJ,
Please don't take this as a slam at police or firemen or anything. It's more
of an observation about realities...
To be honest, the safest place to run after a bomb goes off, is, in general,
toward where the bomb went off. There are a lot of factors in this.
1) Bombs tend to clear out other bombs in their vicinity by setting them off or
breaking them.
2) Paniced people tend to run away from the explosion, not toward, and you are
more likely to get crushed in the rush than hit by the bomb.
3) By running toward the explosion, you are on hand to assist those who were
injured. Even if you have no medical training, you can help police and
firefighters, or just help move debris to pull out injured people.

I didn't know Netflix runs on Silverlight. Funny Microsoft isn't milking that
for bragging points - but I see they have themselves given up in the face of
HTML5 and beyond.
No wonder they fought the video codec issue in HTML so hard - they wanted their
payola solution inserted instead. Of course.

Please sign the White House
petition. As of a few minutes ago, it has only 553 signatures out of the
100,000 needed for it to be considered.
This is important.

Microsoft has not stopped innovating with Windows 8, which seemed like the
ultimate achievement in personal computing.
Word is that in Windows
8.1, Microsoft is going to introduce a revolutionary new
Boot To Desktop feature. This amazing new feature, boldly conceived and
brilliantly executed, will allow users who so desire, to bypass the wonderful
Metro UI and be dumped directly into the desktop mode.
Given the
current state of the USPTO, maybe Microsoft can patent this heretofore unknown
invention.--- The price of freedom is eternal litigation. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
