But the American Revolution issues were primarily about
money, even if they weren't all about money. They didn't
want to pay taxes to Europe. The colonies were charged
income taxes, export duties for anything coming to the
colonies, and import duties on goods from the colonies. The
Townshend Acts were essentially nails in the coffin. And
while the Brits had a so-called Bill of Rights that no
citizen could be taxed without the consent of a
representative Parliament member, there was no true
representation of the colonists in British Parliament. And
taxes just kept happening. The Sugar Act, the Stamp Act,
the Revenue Act of 1776, and more.

you'd have to BUY the right to vote.
Dunno about that, but from this side of the pond it sure looks like you have the right to buy the vote, and that right is exercised very often by the corporations.
