1: There was no way the police knew that the group of
bombers was limited to just those two they were chasing.
The alleged lock-down was to provide greater protection to
the public at large, and not just around the area where the
two suspects were being chased.
2: The two suspects were not "defending" themselves in an
unjust fight. They could at any time have pulled over and
surrendered. Instead, they threw explosives at the police.
That's an attack, not a defense, and the shooting was
precipitated by their use of explosives and firearms, not
the police' actions.
3: Boston was not LOCKED DOWN by the police. The police
issued a RECOMMENDATION to shut down and shelter-in-place.
The public at large accepted/followed that recommendation.
If it was a true lockdown, there certainly wouldn't have
been any press members running around, either.
4: The only thing that really was locked down was public
transportation. The purpose was, of course, to keep any
additional bombers from getting away. As we saw, private
vehicles were not locked down.
5: Because the Boston public at large followed the shelter-
in-place recommendation, this entire thread is really
pointless.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
