You don't think there is a point where the individual
has an individual responsibility? If the government
orders you to torture, do you do it?
Some quit rather than do so, so clearly there is
a line some people simply will not cross for
anybody.
Nor does everyone agree that if you do evil things
you are guiltless just because someone ordered you

At least for US military, only LAWFUL orders must
be obeyed, and following
UNLAWFUL orders makes one
subject to prosecution.

Seems like pretty good motivation to obey any order you're
given, right? Nope. These articles require the obedience of LAWFUL orders. An
order which is unlawful not only does not need to be obeyed, but obeying such an
order can result in criminal prosecution of the one who obeys it. Military
courts have long held that military members are accountable for their actions
even while following orders -- if the order was illegal.
