Yes, it does imply that. However, most of the large companies
being trolled have pretty extensive in-house IT operations
that set up their own systems. SIs migth for example get
called in for setting up virtual servers infrastructure for
replication across a server farm. But each new virtual server
the retail company initiates would be a "new machine"
initiated as needed by internal staff. The SI could face
partial liability, but in turn prevent the troll from

Basically, as I see it, patent trolls, especially like MOSAID,
simply provide patent holders ways to extract extra money from
the customer. In the long run, it's consumers that pay the
price of all of this. Retail companies, losing profits, must
