PJ said "on the head", altho' I confess I felt it was slightly
double-entendre.

the work[sic] "bonk" has other meanings of which you may not be
aware
You mean like firemen putting on their equipment (in USA)? Or
did you have another meaning..... like the meaning commonly ascribed to the word
in the UK?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

From
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitting_the_wall
"The term bonk for cycling fatigue is presumably derived
from the original meaning "to hit", and dates back at least
half a century."
"The term is used colloquially both as a noun ("hitting the
bonk") and a verb ("to bonk halfway through the race")."[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

To bonk: to undertake a Near-Field Communications (NFC) transaction,
typically with a mobile telephony or similar device; hence "pay-by-bonk". (The
Register, passim) e.g.
Careful? Yes, certainly. I have a certain old-fashioned sensibility about my
phone being able to pay for stuff just by being close
enough...
