A self-confessed Apple fanboi since way back when, I kept looking
at Android and other feature, then smart devices, but the big block
for me was 1. equivalents to my Apple apps;
2. must play my mp4 iPod music and h264 movies.
I now have such a device, low-mid range 1ghz ARM7 single core
512M ram, $US200. I have purged unwanted background apps.
Whilst running a language teaching app with identical(?) versions
on Android and iPod Touch 5, I felt the iPod noticeably sluggish.
Sorry Apple, it might be time for me to go ...

I don't mean to spoil the fantasy, but most people don't know about the
lawsuits and most of those that do don't care. It's the same as back
when Microsoft was in the courts on for the anti-competition stuff it
was (and still is) pulling.
We pay attention and it affects us, but we are but a minuscule
proportion of the market and, as a father of a teenage son who is
actually somewhat interested in the companies behind the tech, I can
say that the young male market is barely aware there is even another
layer beyond "Apple & Samsung are competitors, right?"
