- With powerful-enough processor/network and an appropriate
install/download wrapper the process can be made almost
painless. Not to speak of letting the download/install server
cache pre-installed images for its client computers.

- With a little wrapping, the entire software could be made
to run as a network service. To comply with the license you'd
have to limit access to allowing one client at a time to use
the remote compiler. Whoever, when you queue up a work list,
use a bit potent server machine and you could set up a single
book-licensed piece of software for an entire school-room to
use.

Not that i expect there would be a huge market for DOS-based
compilers these days ;-) Neither does Borland it seems: From
memory, at least a few years ago, Borland offered free-ish
downloads of those vintage compilers. Just checked:
'embarcadero' seems to still offer those...
