Use a publicly accessible wifi from a private location. An easy place that comes
to mind is a stall in a coffee shop's bathroom. TOR does not protect against end
to end packet analysis, this does.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Why are you worried about MAC addresses, when they don't make it past the first
router?

Even though the MAC address doesn't make it past the first router it's worth
spoofing because if you upload something or send e-mail that gets investigated
then the investigators will probably come to the coffee shop (or whatever) and
take a copy of the wireless access point's log, which will contain your MAC
address.
I'm not sure what proportion of laptops let you spoof the MAC address. I was
unable to change the MAC address on my Lenovo N100 when I tried with ifconfig
under Debian.
