I simply cannot believe the level of stupidity that is allowed for patents, and
the extremely low threshold for something to be referred to as "a
technology" in legalese.
Perhaps I could patent my technology of pouring some of the milk first, then
adding corn flakes, and last pouring the rest of the milk, where
"some" in this case may be construed to mean "all",
"nothing" or any amount in between. This allows for an unprecedented
amount of flexibility in planning and executing the process of pouring milk on
corn flakes, it provides a useful test case for sour milk before you extract any
of the corn flakes from their container and possibly ruin them with sour milk,
and it incorporates the previous art of "pour-first" or
"pour-last" technologies as special cases.
"Technology". Pfft. The patent industry should have their toys taken
away from them, because they are clearly using them to beat other kids over the
head. The fact that they sometimes use them for their intended purpose is no
longer an excuse.

How long have phone companies been providing ring back? I bet it's long before
that patent was filed. The patent examiner who approved that one should be
taken out back and shot!
