Apparently "socialist" is wrong ?
Egoisme better then ? ( as in "free"-market )
He did not seem to like centralized bureaucracy, but does like organizations
like MPEG-LA. The guys who ralied possible patent holders to hinder VP8. Well
that is weird ( for ~yes~ a "free" market )
Open source wants to do away with patent bureaucracy,
dolig out money to bureaucratic types, like some patent lawyers.
About the funding of open source, claims are made that via DARPA the US taxpayer
invested in the internet and via CERN again taxpayers paid.
Apparently that would be wrong ?
The military *is also* payed by the masses for the masses.
Or do civilians need a defense subscription (free market, better then a
socialist army ? ).
Why shouldn't things that benefit many people be payed by taxes ?
like defense, fundamental research (CERN), internet, and yes a good video
codec.
It is all about control marketed as free market.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Old video codecs, patent-wise- have how many years left before are public
domain?
Methods and concpets are then opened up (meaning free to then go for it)?
Anyone know? Seems those codecs have been around for a very very long time.
They must be on the verge of going out of patent for much of all that?
How many years left?
