This is way cool. First I heard of it. Wish I had the
time to play with one
of these. I'd like to imagine a future
where we routinely have thousands of
cores and employ neural
networks as assistants in all kinds of
tasks.
Doesn't mention anything about CUDA support. Since you
can
program it with C, then all one would need is a CUDA

I'm quite interested in plugging several of those toghether in a pipline :)
(maybe the GPIO is fast enough...)
In fact, I was just recently trying to design something like that with cheap ARM

The DesignSpark article is from January 2013. There's more recent information
at parallella.org, including photos of
the actual boards (the original prototypes were Zedboards). As of 11 May 2013, Parallella has
Ubuntu running on the Xilinx Zynq FPGA's ARM Cortex-A9 CPUs and expect to ship
first boards to Kickstarter backers in the first half of June.
Along with
being a supercomputer, Parallella is likely to be the cheapest Xilinx Zynq FPGA
board available -- much cheaper than the Zedboard. That said, the US$99
price was for Kickstarter backers -- pricing for the rest of us is TBD. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
