Too bad the Utah DOT didn't accidentally send some avalanche shells
into Darl (& Darl)'s backyard like they did to another a few years
ago.
Every now and then, I look out the window behind where I'm
sitting. I look down at Soldier Hollow (if the trees are bare in the
neighbourhood) where they had the old artillery position; I look up at Mount
Timpanogas; I look to my right at the broad side of the barn at the fairgrounds
to compare just how small it is versus Mt Timp.
Then I shake my head in
wonder at how a (supposedly professional) gun crew could miss that
cotton-pickin', 12,000-foot mountain from their 5600 (or so) foot
elevation.
Meanwhile, they (I don't think shooting cornices is a UDOT job)
have built a new firing platform up near Guardsmen's Pass — visible from
the same window, different direction, leaves permitting. From the new platform,
they're shooting up and down the ridge line, instead of across it — if
they again miss the mountain they're aiming for, there's another one in the same
direction for the shell to land on. Lindon is no longer in danger (but the
SCOGlings aren't there any more, anyway). --- --Bill. NAL: question the
answers, especially mine. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
