Think Google's aim goes even deeper than this. Until now the major carriers have
promoted Android whilst locking users into a very profitable 2yr contracts.
Now, Google appear to be promoting “stock” android devices that 'you' can update
and no longer be dependant on your carrier to pull it's finger out and provide
an update.

You won't need to keep changing your phone so often because they do so much
already. Most people will be happy with just the latest updates.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

open device cheaper to its user over its useful life time.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
