Back then (until mid-2004), I was an ISP. I was really
scared that SCO had a case - after all, thought I, in those
millions of lines of code, surely someone had lifted some
for Linux.
I was just a click away from taking a license. But I
thought I had a bit of time.
After all, if I was SCO I would have visions like this:
Rackspace.com: you can look down the aisle with racks
full of 1.75" servers, and the aisle goes on and on until
it faces into the mists.... some vision! And one that I
am sure SCO had squarely in mind!
Then, the slide presentation with the supposedly stolen
code was deciphered and shown to be legal BSD code. In
that instant, my mental bubble popped and my eyes were
opened.
The crowning moment was when Linus said: "They must be
smoking crack!"
