To be clear: I don't condone such young science in combination with humans.
The little we understand about the genetic makeup means we're basically shooting
in the dark and hoping for the best. Not a good idea when we're talking about
something that has the potential of changing the entire human race (for better
or worse).
However, I do believe in the scientific research. In learning
and seeking out the knowledge.
So... on that note of Scientific
Knowledge:
It'd be utterly fascinating to find out how much (if any) the
genetic makeup of the plants with the "roundup resistent genes" ends up helping
other plants* develop the same gene.
If one could prove natural
cross-polination ends up moving the gene through various plant families
(possibly species) - I wonder if the Supreme's would still view a patent on
genes as reasonable.
* interesting definition for "weed":
a plant
where you don't want it
;)
