And it's not just in this case. The problem abounds and is particularly
prevalent in parts of the 'scientific' community. I remember one leading
academic flatly refusing to even look at the evidence which indicated that he
might be wrong because in his view it could not possibly be right. He has long
since been proved in error and is no longer active. Horses and troughs etc. come

So accordig to the source you cited, a new implimentation of the
JFS was introduced first in OS2. That was the source of the code that was GPL'd
and used in Linux.
That's irrelevant. You started out several posts
back saying "the code IBM placed under the GPL for the file system was never in
AIX". That's not true. The code was and is in AIX. It wasn't the first
version of JFS in AIX, and it wasn't developed for AIX, but it was
in AIX. Period, end statement. OS2, Linux and AIX all have the
JFS(2) code.
That's all I'm saying. Everything else you said seems to be
correct.
