My apologies for thinking you thought that. I've seen enough of your postings
that I should have realised that you weren't saying that.
I also realise
that I'm on shakey ground contradicting you with semantics.
However, a connotation is a secondary meaning associated with
a word, but it doesn't follow that the secondary meaning may be correct. It is
suggestive, so whilst saying something is precise it doesn't necessarily mean
that that something is correct.
Just because others choose to ascribe a new
meaning to a word or phrase doesn't make it me wrong to use that word in its
original meaning. Based on the etymology of precise, I don't believe I am wrong
in what I mean when using that word.
I've learnt an awful (as in filled with
awe) lot from you from your posts here and the PLI blog. If you point out where
I'm going wrong I'm going to listen.
