I think my point is finer than this. It is common for words to have more than
one meaning. It is also common for words to have an ordinary everyday meaning
and specific meanings in some disciplines.
Also, etymology teaches us where the words come from but their meanings may have
evolved since.
I googled for the terms "accuracy precision". I got a whole series of
articles that explains there is a difference between these terms when used *in
the context of measurements*. This is a technical meaning. But if you read
dictionaries or talk to non technical people you will find that there is also an
ordinary meaning which is used in everyday life. This meaning is not the
extrapolation of the technical concept to everyday circumstances.
