Quote from the article:
the U.S. Department of
Agriculture said this week. Inspectors are trying to determine how the strain
turned up years later and how widely it may have spread
I have two
comments, the first being a suggestion to the U.S. Department of
Agriculture:
If the U.S. Department of Agriculture truly isn't aware of how
nature spreads plants - I think they need to hire some farmers to consult with
them!
Ever wonder what happens to the seed a bird is carrying when it gets
harried by another bird such that the seed is dropped?
Nature spreads
life and that includes plants! No human involvement is required.
How
hard is that concept to understand?
Second comment is to the
Law:
Just because the Law is attempting to define borders for plants that
are patent protected doesn't mean Nature cares in the slightest about those
arbitrary broders!
Is the Law really going to hold a human responsible for
Nature spreading plants?
Will the Supreme Court Justices willingly find
themselves in breach of Patents if they find patent-protected plants growing in
their gardens without their own personal human involvement?
