I have nothing against the idea of proprietary software as such. It's what
happens down the line that annoys me.
I have in my possession an excellent and easy to use scanner applications
package which will only run on W 3.1 or W 95/98. The producer was bought out by
one of the big boys and the package was discontinued. I have another essential
package which will not work with a modern flat screen and there is no
replacement. I have other 'redundant' but very good applications that are
similarly affected. I keep an old multiple boot self-built machine for their
use. There is nothing open source because of the patent infections.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
