Internet companies warn May over 'snooper's charter'
Authored by: Gringo_ on Tuesday, June 04 2013 @ 07:50 AM EDT

This is the same pettiness that is now persecuting Bradley Manning. There can be no leading digital nation. Our campfire now encircles the planet. If governments cannot accept this they are in danger of being replaced by the gypsies, Google, Facebook et al. I don't know which is the greater evil.

A simple neutral phase about the UK being a "leading digital nation" provoked such angst? I couldn't read anything into that myself. "Leading digital nation" could mean anything, good, bad, or indifferent, without further qualification that you don't provide. It has nothing to do with Bradley Manning who is not "being persecuted". He is being charged with a serious offense, and as far as I can tell, has admitted his guilt. If you are in the military, you better obey the laws of the military. The USA no longer has conscription, and I assume anyone joining the military there is well aware that military laws are a very serious matter and it is the duty of every soldier to obey.

Your comment is a bizarre collage of incongruous images: gypsies, Google, Manning, campfires, "persecution" of a soldier who has transgressed basic military codes, any they are all Evil. I think you must not sleep well.
