I have recently bought a Samsung Chromebook, model 303C12,
which will do what you want. It has an HDMI socket so you
can connect it to your TV (though I haven't done this myself)
or you can use its rather small screen. It normally operates
as a Chrome browser, but underneath it is a Linux machine
with a limited shell, crosh, which does have a secure shell
client. I've set up my desktop computer with a secure shell
server, so now I can ssh from the Chromebook into the
desktop. It provides only an xterm, but that is sufficient
to get work done.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

You don't have to "bolt" it on to your TV. There are now plenty of
sticks on Amazon that can run Android or other Linux and plug into an HDMI
connector on your TV. These sticks look like an overgrown USB stick.
