“However have you tried to actually install Office 2010 on
W8 and if it won't validate, actiually called MS up and do it
manually?”
I believe it should be possible to install one
Office 2010 copy on up to three systems—at least, that's what I once read.
I actually even installed an Office 2010 on a Windows 8 computer, with the same
license key that was already in use on a Windows 7 system, and it validated
without a glitch.
(I did inform these people that I would no
longer be doing any further voluntary work on anything Windows or Microsoft
Office related, though.) [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Back when I ran Windows, I found that if, every year or so,
I backed up my data, wiped the hard drive clean, and then
reinstalled from scratch those applications I had, I could
free up about half the hard disk. I never checked out
fully what didn't get re-installed, but the Registry at
least became 1/3 to 1/2 the size it was before I did the
work.
Note I didn't have to install any apps that year, file space
disappeared and the registry grew anyway.
Thankfully, with Linux I know what is on my hard drive.

(Note IANAL, I don't play one on TV, etc, consult a practicing attorney, etc,
etc)
