Yes it is fairly easy. They wont stick to a Lego brick though.
Anyway Lego was patented. Copyright doesn't really cover it.

available.My vague recollection is that
you
do pay for what you get as
there have been issues about
quality and compatibility with the real Lego
bricks.

Yes, you could, and before the patent expired, some companies did (I bought some
of the competitive products.) Now, you can make "Universal
Construction" connectors to connect (almost) all your building toys
