Downunder most people would say they oppose uranium mining. But like the USofA,
multinational corporate interests have taken over our elected representatives
via lobby groups and election donations so we the population are continually
ignored. We also continue to mine and sell yellow cake, the poison that it is.
The brighter of us also recognize that when profits are at risk, shortcuts will
always be taken by self interested sociopathic CEO's in the design and running
of any business including a nuclear power station.
Better to ask yourself why the water pump emergency generators were housed
outside what was the strongest building at Fukashima - the main reactor
building? Was it due to the cost of making it a little larger to house the
emergency generator inside what is effectively a bunker? I bet the added cost
now looks trivial in terms of the costly damage done. Wonder where such
documents outlining costing discussions exist where design compromises were made
and management warned but they ignored.
