By the way, I was a bit hasty. The point of my post was the many pages of mouse
trap documents on the many pages of search results presented by Google. Not all
of them, including not all of the ones listed in my post are actual patents.
Many of them are just patent applications.
The answer to your question is : I don't know. However I know what the cost is
of not allowing patents for small improvements or changes. The cost is, no one
invests in making small improvements because the improvements cost money to
develop but are easily copied by others who do not invest. Because they don't
invest, they can charge less. Because they charge less, the inventor goes out

Not just any old general purpose computer, but one running software that
transforms it into a special machine!
The mice are so impressed they are all making reservations from their cell
