Yes, Section 101 == it's ALIIIIIIVE!
People who actually go entire lifetimes developing useful software without ever
reading or writing a patent--indeed, without ever being in a position where
reading a patent would add measurably to their knowledge of any aspect
whatsoever of develoment--will be rejoicing.
People who've spent a lifetime never developing anything useful, or writing
anything in a patent that would ever be useful to anyone developing any kind of
software--and getting paid for it--may well be less enthusiastic.

The stress of the PTAB decision and this new SCOTUS ruling have poor old Gene,
running in circles yelling the "Sky is Falling!".
According to Gene, the SCOTUS just keeps getting it wrong. He's predicting a
market collapse and a drying up of funding in genomics.
I'm not sure I share his doom and gloom. Now that's saying a lot, as y'all know,
I'm a doomy, gloomy kind of guy. ;)
Yeah, for the SCOTUS and PTAB. We might actually begin reigning in this
monstrosity. I see a light, perchance it is the end of the tunnel, at long last.
Perchance to dream.
P.S. He's not at all happy with the new rules for protecting children on the
Internet either (COPPA). Although, I can see his dilemma there, there are some
very tricky details to worry about there. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
