They do want your phone, they want it for two reasons. The NSA and intelligence
community in general has a history of placing honeypots. The NSA has lots of
information, but that information is going to be partially wrong. Your phone can
be used to help confirm the information. The second reason is a backup. Say
congress suddenly flips on it's head and throws out spying. A new president is
elected and this one is actually against this sort of spying. Unlikely
situations, but not impossible. Your phone serves as a backup in the event that

It just seeped thru my innocent mind that a reason the US spooks
don't want any Huawei gear, is that contrary to the loud claims,
it does not have exploitable backdoors, or at least those that
are found are fixed quickly, and Huawei have made it clear
they are not for hire.
