"It epitomizes the problem of secret laws."
Yep, no kidding.
BTW, apparently no one else noticed what
ES said with regard to listening to the pres,
but he said that all he needed was an e-mail addy.
He did not say anything about a phone number.
That tells you how integrated the 'programs' are.

These are always the questions you have to ask, not just for police but for any
organization. What does it reward? What do you have to do to get a promotion?
How do you get a raise in pay? How do you climb the career ladder?
Does anyone advance his career by showing restraint? How often does that happen?
Any examples?

"I am pleased that the
administration has reiterated that, as I have always believed, the NSA cannot
listen to the content of Americans’ phone calls without a specific warrant."
So, collection is still ok, but no one can listen to
the
conversation until they get a warrant.
And with billions of US calls per
day,
there is no way they could all be listened to anyway.
But, it still is
creepy if they are all recorded,
even if they are aged out after 5
years.
