Car anology
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, July 08 2013 @ 06:59 AM EDT

It seems to me it was a real screw up. He had the glide path wrong, and everything else follows from there. How could that happen with an experienced pilot supervising? It is like teaching somebody parallel parking. You tell them, first pull up parallel to the car in front of your spot. Then cut the wheel just so and start backing up... "No, you cut the wheel too sharp!". "No - you are not properly aligned with the car in front!" Everything has to begin just so, with the wheel cut at the right angle, then the spin of the wheel when the nose of your car clears the tail of the car in front... If you get those elements just right, it's a piece of cake. If you get off to a bad start, you gotta abort and start all over.

So the thing is, where was the supervisor during all of this? Were the instruments lying to them? But you can sense the right angle for the descent. You know you are going too slow. That is, if he was paying attention, or if he wasn't confused about what craft they were flying. There are going to be a lot of questions about the pilot that was responsible for training.
